Bear Bells & Wild Boars: Real Wildlife Safety on Korean Trails

The Wildlife Question I Get Asked More Than Any Other Before almost every mountain trip I run, someone in the group pulls me aside at the trailhead and asks some version of the same question: 'Are there actually dangerous animals out here?' The honest answer is: yes, a few, and the risk is real enough to take seriously — but it is also specific, manageable, and very different from what most foreign hikers imagine. I have driven clients to trailheads from Seoraksan in the north to Hallasan in the south, from the granite teeth of Wolchulsan to the deep beech forests of the Yeongnam Alps.
