Gayasan Manmulsang Ridge: The Rock Hike No One Tells You About

The Ridge That Makes You Stop and Stare Most foreign visitors who make it to Gayasan National Park do the same thing: they walk the Baengnyunsa–Seongbulbong corridor, take a photo at the summit cairn, and leave. I understand why. That route is well-signed, the trail maps handed out at the park entrance show it in bold, and the waterfalls on the way up are genuinely excellent. But the Manmulsang ridge — running roughly west from the Seongbulbong summit area toward the Manmulsang rock cluster — is something else entirely, and almost none of the foreign clients I've driven to Gayasan have ever heard of it before we talk in the car on the way there. Manmulsang (만물상) translates loosely as 'ten-thousand forms,' and the name earns itself. The granite here has been fractured and weathered into spires, balanced boulders, narrow fins, and pinnacles that look genuinely alien on a clear-sky day.
