Is Cheonmasan Really Worth the Drive When Bukhansan Is Right There? Yes — and that is exactly the problem with Bukhansan. On a weekend morning the Dobongsan and Bukhansan trailheads look like a subway platform at rush hour: poles clicking, trail shoes squeaking, hikers three abreast on a path barely wide enough for two. Cheonmasan, sitting across the city boundary in Namyangju, draws a fraction of that crowd. On a clear autumn Tuesday I drove a couple from Vancouver up here and we passed fewer than a dozen people on the entire ridge. At 812 metres it is not a dramatic Himalayan outlier. But the summit ridge is open and grassy, the old ski-slope descent is genuinely unusual, and the whole loop can be done in under five hours without rushing.
