About
About Off Map Korea
Off Map Korea is a small outdoor travel operation based in Seoul and Gyeonggi, South Korea. We specialize in driving foreign visitors to Korean mountain trails that are difficult or impossible to reach by public transport. Each tour includes a private driver and a printed self-guided trail book — there is no walking guide, which keeps groups small, costs reasonable, and the experience genuinely personal.
This blog is where I share what I have learned over years of running cars across the Seoul and Gyeonggi region. The posts cover trail-by-trail logistics, cultural etiquette on Korean mountains, what foreign hikers consistently get wrong, and the practical details that travel guides usually miss — convenience stores near trailheads, mobile coverage on ridges, taxi availability after dark.
Who Writes Here
I am Dongryul Kim, the founder of Off Map Korea. I also operate a corporate rental car business in the Seoul / Gyeonggi area, which is how this travel project began. After years of driving foreign clients around the country, I noticed the same questions and the same avoidable mistakes coming up again and again. This blog is my attempt to answer them in writing.
What This Blog Is Not
It is not a generic Korea travel blog. It does not list every tourist attraction. It does not recycle information from official tourism sites. Every post is based on direct experience driving and walking these routes, or on lessons learned from real client trips.
